Tutorial 2 - Convert a surface from a sub-meshVideo:

In this tutorial we will convert a surface from a sub-mesh of the selected mesh model. For this tutorial you also can refer the video http://www.resurf3d.com/maindoc/surffromsubmesh.rar
Step 1 : Start Rhino. Step 2: Select Import… from the File menu. The import file dialog box is displayed. Browse for the file pipe.stl (typically located in C:\Program Files\Rhinoceros 6\Plug-ins\RhinoResurf\ Samples\) and click Open from the Open dialog box .
Step 3: Zoom to the extents of the drawing ( View->Zoom->Extents ). You will find the mesh from pipe.stl imported into the current model. Select View->Shaded or Type ShadedViewport in the Rhino command prompt to shade the mesh model. Select Polyline->On Mesh from the Curve menu to draw a closed line on the mesh. This closed line defined a interior sub-mesh in the mesh model. We will convert the defined sub-mesh to a surface.
Step 4: Click Single surface from mesh from the Resurf menu or type RsMesh2Surf at the Rhino command prompt or click icon at RhinoResurf toolbar.
Step 6: Click the from submesh check box in the Single surface from mesh dialog box. The Create button is enabled. At the same time, the Trim check box will be disable.
Step 7: Click the Create button, the Rhino command prompt Select curves to define closed boundary line is displayed. Click left-mouse button to select this closed line, and click right-mouse button, the program will run. After a while, a surface will appear. The prompt Surface updated.max deviation=0.497849. average deviation=0.146745 tell you the tolerance between the surface and the defined sub-mesh.
Step 8: If the deviation between the surface and the defined sub-mesh is not desired, select the Max Tol choice box and choose a smaller value (such as 0.3), then click the Apply button, the surface will be updated under the constraint of the smaller deviation. |
